Gregory Crowell performs works from "Eight Little Harmonies and Counterpoints"
As part of his program to demonstrate the W.W. Kimball organ (1904) located in the Lower Church of the Basilica of St. Josaphat, Milwaukee, organist and scholar Gregory Crowell will perform "Little Harmony and Counterpoint (Lydian)" and "Little Harmony and Counterpoint (Phrygian)" from James Woodman's "Eight Little Harmonies and Counterpoints."
Gregory Crowell is a Senior Affiliate Professor of Music at Grand Valley State University and the Director of Music at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dr. Crowell has also taught at the New England Conservatory, the University of Cincinnati, and Hope College. Crowell has performed widely in Europe, Japan, Canada, and the United States as organist, harpsichordist, clavichordist, and conductor. In 2000, he accepted an invitation to serve as Visiting Scholar at Rikkyo University in Tokyo. He has been heard in live performance on WCRB in Boston, WGUC in Cincinnati, WFMT in Chicago, Northwest German Radio, Belgian Public Radio, and NPM’s Pipedreams. He has also recorded for the OHS and OgeeOgress labels. Crowell has served the OHS as Director of Publications and was for six years on the OHS Board of Directors. He has also served on several committees and advisory boards, including those for the E. Power Biggs Scholars, Historic Organ Citations, and Library and Archives.
Dr. Crowell performs under the aegis of Independent Concert Artists.
